Lecture & DISCUSSION

Join visiting artists and co-curators Ismael “Ish” Muhammad Nieves and Felix “Flex” Maldonado Jr., for an artist talk on the work of the Crazy IN Style Artists, and the exhibition currently on display at South Shore Arts.

Emerging in Northwest Indiana during the 1980's the Crazy IN Style Artists (CISA) transformed the visual language of graffiti into a lasting movement rooted in community, creativity, and self-expression. Inspired by the rise of New York graffiti while forging a distinctly Midwestern identity, the collective evolved from a network of young writers painting walls and rail corridors into one of the region's most influential artistic voices. Still Crazy: 40 Years of the Crazy IN style Artists celebrates tour decades of this remarkable history and the collective's enduring impact on contemporary art, public space, and cultural life.
