Bach Institute - St. Matthew Passion

The Bach Institute at Valparaiso University will perform its triennial performance of one of the three major works of Johann Sebastian Bach at 5 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Chapel of the Resurrection on Valparaiso University's campus. This year’s selection is the “St. Matthew Passion,” which was last performed on campus in 2010, featuring Valpo’s Chorale, Bach Choir and Bach Orchestra, along with special guests the Fort Wayne Children’s Concert Treble Choir and the Leipzig Baroque Orchestra. Tickets for the Valpo performance are available online at valpo.edu/bach or the Valpo box office at 219-464-5162. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. General admission tickets cost $40 for preferred seating, $25 for adults, $20 for senior citizens and $10 for non-Valpo students. Admission is free to Valpo students, faculty and staff.

The Smithereens

Join BrightSide Music in welcoming The Smithereens for their third appearance at the Memorial Opera House. On March 16th, Marshal Crenshaw will be joining the band as lead vocalist, filling the place of Pat DiNizio who passed in late 2017. Since the 1980s New Jersey born The Smithereens have exemplified east coast rock, with hits like "A Girl Like You" and "Only A Memory", which skyrocketed them into national fame. Coming a long way since the '80s they have now released eleven studio albums in total with their last release being 2011, and five live albums. The band has been touring nationally and internationally for over thirty years, making them veterans and experts of rock n' roll. Join us on March 16th to see why The Smithereens are one of the greatest live bands from their era.

Heartache Tonight: A Tribute to the Eagles

Enjoy an Eagles concert experience and support the conservation work of Shirley Heinze Land Trust at the same time! This performance by Eagles tribute band Heartache Tonight  includes everything from the notable guitar duel in "Hotel California" to the harmonies of "Peaceful Easy Feeling."

All instruments and vocals are live with a set list that covers songs from all eras and incarnations of the Eagles, including "Seven Bridges Road," "Life In The Fast Lane" and "Take It Easy," plus solo hits such as Joe Walsh’s "Rocky Mountain Way" and Don Henley’s "Dirty Laundry."

The six members of the band are veteran musicians who have shared stages with some of the outstanding names in rock, including Jimmy Buffet, Joe Cocker and the Doobie brothers, and have played festivals and performing arts centers across the country including The Taste of Chicago, Ravina Festival, and Wrigley Field.

Lean on Me: The Brotherhood of Rock and Roll

PBS television stars (Under the Streetlamp) and former Jersey Boys castmates Michael Ingersoll and Christopher Kale Jones unite for an uplifting evening of inspirational rock anthems including “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” by The Righteous Brothers, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” by Frankie Valli, “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor, and “America the Beautiful” by Ray Charles.

Micheal Ingersoll - Chicago Sun-Times declares, “He’s got star written all over him.” Performer/producer Michael Ingersoll is the creator of the Artists Lounge Live concert series. A favorite of PBS audiences, Ingersoll toured the country performing with his retro-rock vocal group Under the Streetlamp, whose television concert specials air in millions of homes nationwide. He is also known for starring as Nick Massi of the Four Seasons in Jersey Boys for the original Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles companies.

Christopher Kale Jones - a nationally touring recording artist. Jones is best known for starring as Frankie Valli in the Tony Award-winning smash hit Jersey Boys for the original San Francisco, Los Angeles, and First National Tour companies. He also won hearts touring nationwide as a founding member of retro-rock sensation Under the Streetlamp, seen in millions of homes on PBS. Other theatre highlights include starring as Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors opposite his wife, actress Jenna Coker-Jones; Mercury in Olympus On My Mind for which he received a Barrymore Award Nomination, and Ragtime, The King & I, The Wizard of Oz, Aladdin, Peggy Sue Got Married.

4th Annual Jazz Extravaganza

April is Jazz Appreciation Month and tickets are on sale for the 4th Annual Jazz Extravaganza at St. Timothy’s Church in Gary. The event will celebrate the musical accomplishments of iconic jazz trumpeter Art Hoyle and those of international jazz guitarist, recording artist Henry Johnson, both Gary natives. Performing will be Northwest Indiana’s own Billy Foster Quartet with special guest, Henry Johnson.

9th Annual Jammin' with Save the Dunes

It's time again for Jammin with Save the Dunes!! Jammin is our signature fundraiser which brings hundreds of dunes lovers to beautiful Washington Park in Michigan City on the Lake Michigan shoreline. The festival features many of your favorite local breweries, local wineries and local food. We also are delighted to bring back awesome bands with local ties!

We are thrilled to announce this year’s headliner, Jon Langford and The Waco Brothers! The Waco Brothers are classified as Country Rock with added Punk. They've produced eight studio albums with Bloodshot Records. Author and music critic, Sarah Vowell told the Chicagoist, "I've never been able to find a live band in New York as consistently thrilling, funny and fun as the Waco Brothers." (our other bands will be announced soon!)

Food, beer, and more! As in the past, we will feature delicious local grub from a number of food trucks as well as craft beer and wine from local breweries and wineries. Be sure to also check out our vendor area where you can find cool dunes related swag. And, of course, be sure to stop by the Save the Dunes' table and become a member!

Guess what? Our event is FAMILY FRIENDLY! All ages are welcome! Be sure to check out our Kids Zone during the hours of 4:00pm - 8:00pm!

Get your tickets today! Tickets are $20 online and $25 at the door. All beer is only $5 each and includes a signature recyclable plastic cup. Food and beverages are available for an additional cost. Not only is this an amazing deal to see these bands, but it supports a worthy cause!

Prairie Magic Music Festival

The Prairie Magic Music Festival is an annual celebration of Rock, Americana, and Blues music that takes place each August.

This year, Los Lobos will headline the event. Additional bands will be announced in late spring.

Bring your lawn chairs and sun shades to enjoy an afternoon of amazing music at our outdoor amphitheater. Food trucks, bounce houses, a beer garden, and kids activities will be available all day!

Doors open at 12:00 pm, and music will begin at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $30 in advance.

Porter County Parks & Recreation is also opening up the Sunset Hill Farm Campground for camping the night of the festival. Visitors can rent space in the campground for just $5.
