What is the everykid program?
The everykid program is the umbrella program for over 15 of our youth outreach programs. These programs are conducted throughout the region on a large and accessible scale, much of it at no cost to participants. By partnering with over 40 organizational partners, municipalities and school districts, we are able to reach a large number of youth by taking our instructors and supplies directly to them.
Some of our most popular programs are our book-to-project workshops, which take our teaching artists into classrooms where they lead students in a literacy-based art project with all supplies included. Selected book titles include The Skin You Live In, You Be You, The Crayon Box that Talked and Waterville. Each workshop is unique to the theme of the book. Teachers and students alike love these workshops!
South Shore Arts also offers scholarship classes specifically for 4th & 5th grade students who show an aptitude for art. Scholarships for art classes are also available for middle and high school students at our three locations—the Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster, Substation No. 9 in Hammond and at South Shore Arts at the Artful Garden in Crown Point.
Attention Schools and Organizations!
Let us create a custom program to suit your particular needs or interests! It can be a one-day workshop or an extended program. It can be held at your school or at one of our facilities. The options are endless. Contact our Education Department to discuss.
