“Dual Insights: Carole Stodder and Tom Brand - Paintings” opens at The Marshall Gardner Art Center at 940 S. Lake St. in Gary's lakefront Miller neighborhood on May 18 and runs through June 17.
"This exhibit is a large sample of the body of work each artist has created in recent years as residents in Northwest Indiana," Stodder said in a news release.
"It will reveal a dual approach to their creative vision and their mastery of the art of painting. Theirs is a contrast in vision but not a contradiction — they share an interest in strong composition and form and the fine crafting of their medium," Stodder said. "Each artist has established a strong reputation as a contemporary artist working in an abstract manner. In opposing techniques, Brand works in oil on panel while Stodder paints in acrylic on canvas. The scope of their work and the number of pieces on display will make for an exciting viewing experience."
An opening reception will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. May 18.
