An Evening with Nu-Blu

  • Chicago Street Theatre 154 West Chicago Street Valparaiso, IN, 46383 United States (map)

Over the years, One Night Jam has presented artists representing rock, folk, blues, pop, Americana, country, and Celtic/Flamenco.
However, we have not, to date, presented an evening of one of the most American of music genres, Bluegrass. That's all about to change.

We are thrilled to present one of the hottest Bluegrass bands in the country, Nu-Blu! I was introduced to the band by longtime ONJ friend Jim Peterik when we went to see them at a music festival in Illinois. I knew immediately that they needed to be part of our series.

From their website: "Hailing from Siler City, NC, the textbook definition of a picturesque small southern town, Nu-Blu’s heart and soul is husband-and-wife duo Daniel and Carolyn Routh. Carolyn’s caramel-coated soprano is one of the band’s defining traits, at times a tender lullaby, at times a freight train headed straight for you, but always unwinding a surprising tale. Daniel is the group’s backbone, a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist who also handles band management. TJ Honaker on vocals and banjo, and Clint White on fiddle/mandolin round out the quartet’s warm, layered, American roots sound.

Their sound is part tradition, part new. Harmonies are golden, musicianship is top-notch. A nice bridge between old-school Bluegrass and a more modern, up-to-date sound.

Come experience the future of Bluegrass. Come experience something Nu.
