| FALL 2006 PAST EXHIBITS Return to the South Shore: An Exhibit of Classic South Shore Posters and Contemporary Original Paintings Two summer exhibits in the Bachman Gallery of South Shore Arts drew visitors of diverse backgrounds to the Center for Visual and Performing Arts. Return to the South Shore showcased the classic South Shore Railroad posters of the 1920s, along with the original paintings of the more recent series of “Just Around the Corner” South Shore posters created since the mid-1990s under the auspices of the Northwest Indiana Forum. South Shore Arts hosted an all-area chamber reception for the exhibit on June 22. Over 150 Northwest Indiana chamber members enjoyed refreshments, networking, and a chance to see the exhibit. Poster artists Susan Holton, Bruce Cegur, Alice Philips and Mitch Markovitz were on hand to join in the festivities. The reception and exhibit were made possible through underwriting from Mittal USA and summer exhibit sponsor Fifth Third Bank. ![]() Mitch Markovitz, "Just Around the Corner" Yitzhak: The Many Faces of Isaac Yitzhak, an exhibition of artwork inspired by the Yitzhak International Arts Gathering in Israel that took place in June, 2005, was the second collaboration between South Shore Arts and the Jewish Federation of Northwest Indiana.
