| FALL 2008 Beaux Arts Ball a Record Success The 15th Annual Beaux Arts Ball, “As Time Goes By,” was held June 6, 2008, at the Center for Visual and Performing Arts. South Shore Arts’ primary fundraising event of the year, the Ball benefits the everykid program, which last year served over 17,000 children, youth and families in Northwest Indiana and south suburban Chicago. The sold-out black tie event once again set a new milestone, netting a record $164,000! Beaux Arts Ball Co-Chairs Joyce Davis, Karen Maravilla and Colleen Reillyalong with a dynamic committee, board and staffdeserve many thanks for a job well done! South Shore Arts Executive Director John Cain presented individual and business Patron of the Year Awards to Vince Galbiati and the Northwest Indiana Forum, board members Danette Garza and Connie Skozen, and John Davies, for their support, vision and hand-on work involved in renewing and advancing the South Shore Poster campaign, as well as establishing the South Shore Poster Art Management agreement between the Forum and South Shore Arts. Returning to Casablanca was the theme for the evening, and guests were greeted by a life size cut-out of John Cain welcoming them to “John’s Café Americain.” Table décor included Moroccan lanterns draped with a tapestry scarf and surrounded by giant Monstera leaves. The feeling was definitely Casbah! Special thanks for decorations go to Seda Turan-Yahne and Jackie Wickland, who went the extra mile to make it all happen. In celebration of the 15th Anniversary, guests were treated during dinner to 15 years of earlier Ball photos, some dating back to the very first Beaux Arts Ball in 1994, along with a glimpse of the everykid program in action. Once again, dancing went to the very end of the evening. A rumor was confirmed that, yes, several people were seen line dancing to “Love Shack!” Major sponsors of the 15th Annual Beaux Arts Ball were Presenting Sponsor NIPSCO, Diamond Sponsor Geminus Prevention Services, Inc., and Event Sponsors Burke Costanza & Cuppy, LLP, Community Healthcare System, Harris, Horseshoe Casino Hammond, Lexus of Merrillville, Rowley Bushue & Company, LLP, Dr. John and Nancy Gustaitis and the Chris and Dede Morrow Fund of the Legacy Foundation.
