South Shore Arts is thrilled to bring back the popular Family Arts Fest, Sunday, May 5, from 11am–3pm. Don’t miss out on this art-filled day fun for the whole family celebrating the arts!

Rockopelli Instrument Petting Zoo:  Located in the Orchestra Practice Room Downstairs, 11am­–2pm

Enjoy the exploration of instruments of all kinds with guided practice from Rockopelli.  Don’t be shy, the instruments don’t bite.

Collaborative Quilling: Located in the Downstairs Atrium, 11am–2pm

Have you ever sculpted with paper before? Teen Arts Board has started a great art project and wants you to add to the fun! Grab a strip of paper, fold, roll, flip, curl, and attach it to the 3D collaborative piece! You’ll be guided with helpers through this process. All ages and abilities can add their mark!

Caricature Artist: Located in the Downstairs Atrium, 11am–2pm

If you want to see what you would look like as an exaggerated cartoon character, this is your chance! Albert, our featured artist, will impress you with this ability to emphasize your unique features in record time,

Face Painting: Located in the Upstairs Atrium, 11am–2pm

Pose Like Magritte: Located in Studio B, 11am–3pm

The history of South Shore Arts was inspired by the work of surrealist Rene Magritte. Teen Arts Board has painted an impressive backdrop for attendees to pose in front of with Magritte-style props and examples. Take some photos and tag South Shore Arts with the hashtag #PoseLikeMagritte

Can’t Resist Glow in the Dark Designs: Located in Studio B, Downstairs, 11am–2pm

Make-and-take your own resist painting! This activity will help participants learn how to create colorful layers as well as see the duality of positive and negative space within a design. 

Ziplock Baggie Quotes: Located in Studio C, Downstairs, 11am–2pm

Make-and-take inspirational wall art! Who would’ve thought that using zip lock bags and markers could make such an unexpected outcome? Be led through the simple steps and see how successful this activity is for anyone! 

Popcorn + Sweets Bar provided by Trama Catering: Upstairs Atrium, 11am–3pm

Paint Pour Demo: Located in Studio A, Downstairs, 11am–2pm

Watch our incredible instructor, Merrionna Pierce, demonstrate paint pouring techniques in her palette of vibrant colors!  She will highlight some of the techniques she will be teaching this summer in our new offering “Paint Pour Galore” where you can learn alongside her!

Wheel Throwing Demo: Located in Studio A, Downstairs, 11am–2pm

Watch our enthusiastic instructor, Cole Valle, demonstrate wheel throwing techniques and clay building tips!  Cole teaches many of our ceramics classes and will share ways you can join in on the fun!

Balloon Artist: Located in the Upstairs Atrium, 11am–2pm

50th Annual Tri-County Junior/ Senior High School Exhibition: Atrium Gallery and Main Gallery, open from 11am-3pm. Awards ceremony starts at 1:30pm.

Teen Arts Board and Hammond Scholarship Program Exhibit: Meeting Room Gallery, 11am–3pm

Northwest Indiana Symphony Youth Orchestra Spring Concert: Theatre, 3:00pm. Tickets for this event can be purchased in the Box Office or by clicking here.
