Mommy & Me
ages 2 – 3 with parent or grandparent

This special class will allow parent and child quality time for creative, interactive fun. Using a variety of drawing, painting, and craft materials, parent and young artist will explore the exciting world of art while learning from one another! The art projects will focus on stretching the imagination and encouraging self-expression rather than end results. Please dress young artists appropriately. All supplies are included. Class is limited to 8 children. This is a four week class.

Colors of the Rainbow
ages 3 – 4 (child must have turned 3 by January 2009 and be potty-trained)

In this class children draw, paint, cut, paste, and learn other techniques for creating various mixed media projects. The students listen, observe, and work together to develop respect for one other and each other’s artwork. Every week, a different color will be introduced to the children, inspiring the theme of each project, while allowing individuals to develop his/her own works of art. All supplies are included. Dress young artists appropriately. Class is limited to 8 children. This is a four week class.

Creative Fingers

Children naturally enjoy painting, drawing, cutting and pasting. In this class, the young artists will create and use their imagination while exploring various art media and techniques. Each week, beginning with the letter A, a new artist will be introduced. The class will cover a brief biography of an artist, a closer look a his/her masterpieces and then it will be your turn to step into the artist’s shoes and complete a “work of art” in the same style. Intro to Children's Beginning Drawing
ages 9 – 15

This is an abbreviated session to introductory concepts which are taught in the beginning class. The skills required to be a successful artist are much more a matter of knowledge than natural ability, and are, therefore, learnable. This class teaches your child the “how” of drawing and has given to countless children, the knowledge to apply unique practical strategies involving any drawing problem, without the necessity of attempting to copy lines. Work produced by this class continuously displays a sophistication that will surprise and delight you. Media will include pencil, charcoal and colored pastels. All supplies are included.

For the student who has taken the Beginning Drawing Class, this class further develops skills previously introduced. Areas of special concentration are line, composition, light and shadow. Generally smaller in class size, students gain much more personal attention, learning extensively from their fellow students. Each develops a more personal style at his/her own pace. New media include conté crayon and oil pastels. All supplies are included.

Intro to Cartooning
ages 9 – adult

This class is for beginners wanting to explore the methods and problems of drawing particular to cartooning. The student will be shown how to take real life subjects and transform them into cartoon figures, from objects to animals to people. Major concentration will focus on various methods of
character development including the “Disney Method.” Continuity is very important in this class; best results come from faithful attendance. Principles of caricature will be addressed based on available time and student readiness. All supplies are included.

Children's Intro to Painting

Students will learn technical skills in painting with watercolor and acrylic as well as different styles, approaches and personal expressions. Glazing, painting from life, painting from sketches and painting from one’s own imagination will be touched upon. Use of paints, brushes, and more will be provided during class sessions. Students will need to purchase watercolor paper, canvas and other minor supplies that will be discussed the first day of class.

Beginning Hand Building Pottery

Beginning Airbrushing

Learn the mechanics, maintenance, and use of an airbrush. This class will teach you the basics of airbrush art. Types of paint, surfaces, including airbrush paper, tee shirts, hot press boards, canvas, glass, plastic and metal, and using stencil and free-hand methods will be among the topics discussed in this popular and dynamic class.
